Press Release

MARCH 2004

LOCAL CONSTRUCTION BOSS
BEATS OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALLIST

Shaun Stacey, Managing Director of Stacey Construction near Taunton, Somerset seems to be able to juggle his time not only to run a successful £15-20m construction business, but also to fit in top level competitive clay shooting. Just to fill you in, Stacey Construction is a national company with an impressive client list including the likes of Esso, Tesco, Texaco etc and they have built a substantial number of our motorway service areas and petrol forecourts on just about every motorway you care to mention. With business looking good for 2004, both the Major Contracting Division and the Forecourt Division are as busy as ever.

So what has shooting got to with construction? Well, despite heavy rain the West Country saw a vast number of top international shooters travel the length and breadth of the country, including construction boss Shaun Stacey, to attend the first England Team Selection Shoot of 2004 which was also the 2004 South West Championship shoot.
With the dreadful wind and rain the country has been experiencing lately the commitment of all the shooters was commendable. The final prizegiving took place in the marquee at Newnham Park, Plymouth which had been especially erected for the purpose.
And it was Shaun Stacey who took the honours, beating the Olympic Gold Medallist Richard Faulds to take the South West Champion title for 2004, he also shot the winning score of the shoot outright with 114 ex 120.
If you talk to the ‘home team’ feelings are good for Shaun this year – he is more than keen to get a World or British championship title under his belt in 2004 (to add to his numerous England appearances), and the way things are going he is certainly heading that way !!
Perhaps his consistent top form really is due to his elder daughter Emma considering she is Dad’s lucky mascot … when she popped inside for a glass of milk he missed 2 clays!!!
Let’s hope 2004 sees as much success for Shaun on the shooting circuit as in the business industry.
