September 2004 WIVEY PRIMARY SCHOOL CELEBRATE’S OPENING OF NEW SPORTS HALL One year on since the foundations were laid, Wiveliscombe Primary School’s new sports hall stands proud alongside the existing Grade II listed building. Given time and the elements the new building will soon blend with the old. As well as the sports hall, the school also has two smart new classrooms, a welcome replacement for the old prefabricated units. The hall has provided a much-needed facility for the school and it will also benefit the local community as an additional venue for functions and recreational activities. The contractor, Stacey Construction, has been based in Wiveliscombe for many years and is very committed to the local community—sponsoring the local rugby club and supporting numerous other sporting and cultural events. Chairman, Mike Stacey, and Managing Director, Shaun Stacey, both live locally and some of the employees have children at Wiveliscombe Primary School, so this was a project that the Company was particularly pleased to be involved in. At the official opening ceremony of the sports hall, which was held recently, Stacey Construction’s Commercial Manager, Roger Trott, and Contracts Manager, Allan Bull, joined with staff and parents to enjoy a short musical performance given by the children, followed by afternoon tea—a delightful way to launch the new building. |
